Emergency Management

Increasing Overall Community Preparedness

The City of Eugene and the City of Springfield share an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), a Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan (NHMP), and are working together to build a culture of  preparedness in our community. Increasing our overall disaster resilience is the responsibility of every community member. By providing tools and resources to our community members, we are working toward one goal—overall disaster preparedness.

A New Yorker magazine article, The Really Big One, addresses the possibility of a magnitude 9.0 earthquake in the Pacific Northwest. The article sparked intense public interest in emergency preparedness.

Our web pages contain detailed Emergency Plans, as well as suggested emergency preparedness actions, lists of resources, and much more. We also host public forums to further explain earthquake preparedness, answer questions, and empower our community with knowledge and resources.
