Sign Loan Boundary

The City of Eugene recognizes that signs significantly shape the character of a district. This program will help business owners improve their signs to complement the surrounding neighborhood, while still allowing them to express their individuality and promote their goods and services.


A limited amount of funding is available for the pilot phase of this program and will be distributed on a first-come - first-served basis for eligible projects within the downtown plan area.

Signs

Signs offer a unique opportunity for placemaking though their dimension, color, and lighting. Vertical signage has been prolific throughout Eugene’s history and we encourage businesses to consider vertical signs for their building where appropriate as a way to showcase Eugene's unique commercial areas while allowing businesses the flexibility to creatively showcase themselves to potential customers.

This loan program is designed to provide favorable terms for the borrowing businesses. Specifically, the loan provides:

  • Loans up to $10,000
  • Up to a five-year term with 0% interest
  • A payment deferral period of up to twenty-four months

Interested businesses will work with a professional firm to obtain a proposed design and quote. The City’s Urban Design Team will evaluate the proposed design for its design integrity and the contribution it will make to the sense of place downtown. Once approved, the City’s Business Loan Analyst will work with the business to establish terms (in accordance with the conditions above) and execute the loan.
