The Good Traveler is a carbon offset program that works to restore the balance by keeping greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere. When you buy a carbon offset from The Good Traveler to go with your plane ticket, you are funding the work of people all over the country who are restoring the climate balance.
To date, the program has offset over 118,000 metric tons of carbon, the equivalent of neutralizing over 695 million passenger miles.
EUG is a proud member of this program, and we invite our individual travelers to participate: By design, the purchase is a quick and easy process. Travelers visit thegoodtraveler.org and simply add their departure and arrival airport (and any flight legs), the number of travelers, and whether the trip is one-way or round-trip. The website calculates the offset purchase price. When a traveler purchases a certified carbon offset, they are buying from a portfolio of projects (forestry and grassland conservation, energy efficiency, and composting) located in various regions within North America. The blended cost of projects within the portfolio keeps offset the cost affordable.
Travelers also have the opportunity to offset their air travel with The Good Traveler by making mileage-based, charitable contributions to local, environmental nonprofit organizations. By creating a member profile on the website, a customer can choose to make a tax-deductible contribution to their selected nonprofit partner.
Whether purchasing an offset, or donating to an environmental nonprofit, our travelers can contribute to a solution to climate change while also creating valuable community co-benefits.
