Artist Bio
I am an artist and an art teacher that enjoys living a creative life. I have taught art for 20 years in many places including public, private and alternative schools, community centers and on Artie the Art Bus. Spreading the joy of creating and the positivity that art brings into life is a passion that I have been spreading across Lane County for the past 21 years. As a painter and mixed media artist that also enjoys printmaking, crochet and jewelry making, my art is colorful, vibrant and expressive – all qualities I encourage and nurture in my teaching.
Artist Statement
I am interested in capturing the essence and spirit of a moment with color. My soul is fueled by color. I love to mix it, paint it, print it, collage it, draw it, crochet it and be inspired by it. The possibilities and combinations are beautiful and infinite. Colors speak to me, and they all have unique voices that represent a variety of emotions, memories and reminders of our world. My palette allows me to express what I cannot put into words. My expressive paintings are most often of people. I look to portray a single instant in time. So much story can be shown in a face, told by only a pair of painted eyes. With art we are given the ability to experience each other's souls. I find that fascinating.
